In 2024, Woods had 3 sacks and posted one of the highest PFF grades among Power-Four interior defenders, anchoring his case for All-ACC notice and early draft buzz. His pass-rushing technique is a mixed bag of violent hand usage, sudden inside rip counters, and the ability to win with power out of stances or from stunted alignment adjustments. He consistently manipulates blockers by combining strong hand timing with well-timed lateral footwork, allowing him to displace guards and collapse pockets from various angles. Against the run, evaluators note that he plays with a low pad level and leverages his powerful hands and core strength to hold gaps and shed double teams. He shows a two-gap awareness when asked to anchor, yet can pivot into penetrator mode when deployed as a single-gap 3-technique, giving him run-stopping flexibility unseen in many interior defenders.
Physically, Woods checks in around 6′3″ and 315 lbs, a frame that strikes a balance between brute strength and functional athleticism. His lower body is rooted like an oak, enabling him to anchor against double teams and resist lateral displacement. At the same time, he shows the kind of twitch you like to see in a 315lb tackle and the agility to shoot gaps and work in tight quarters, traits that help him project as a true three-down interior force. While his arm length will get mentioned, it doesn’t show on tape next to his leverage, upper-body strength, and very fast hands that allow him to win with inside drives or hand counters. He has nimble feet for a big man, and in short areas the ability to bend laterally. He has great tape when asked to stunt, twist, or slant in more creative defensive fronts.
I currently assign him a red-chip grade because you would like to see Peter Woods with a more focused resume, but what is on paper now makes him a potential blue-chip, top-10 pick in the 2026 draft if he finishes 2025 on a strong note. With continued refinement in consistency, awareness, and technique, he has the upside to become a foundational interior disruptor in the NFL.
