Ty Simpson Scouting Report
Ty Simpson ended 2025 on a lower note than expected, pulling himself from the Rose bowl with a rib injury. But his 2025 tape is arguably the best in the draft at the quarterback position. So he’ll go higher than most people think.
Tape Scouting Report
He flashed accuracy on the move and from the pocket. Simpson demonstrates the ability, instinct and awareness to avoid pressure. And critically showed he can hold the reins and pull the levers of an NFL style offense, and fire the ball fearlessly and error free with a sterling 28-5 touchdown to interception ratio. It is commonplace to see Simpson reset the LOS, or alter some part of a play with pre-snap checks and looks. Simpson can be a bit of a gunslinger and takes nice aggressive shots that a lot of NFL execs are going to eat up on tape. His long ball has a tendency to loop a bit, but he can make fine, on the line throws through traffic, and can layer the football in between matched coverage as well.
Athletic Scouting Report
Ty Simpon’s athletic makeup is possible where things get dicey. He has a smaller frame by NFL standards. He also plays fearlessly, and he takes hits he ought not to. That stigma won’t be helped by finishing his season sidelined after a hit. But Simpson’s positional measurables outside of size are a net gain for the prospect. His arm strength is plus by NFL standards, but not in an elite category. Simpson can drive the ball to all fields well enough. Ty Simpson is fleeter of foot than you’d think, and can make positive throws on the move.
Draft Stock Report
It will be hard for NFL scouts to not be impressed by how Ty Simpson ran Dan Lanning’s offense for Alabama, in his first year starting. Though it may not be en vogue to put Simpson high, Cutcall has never dropped him from the top 11. Quarterbacks are too valuable, and his body of work was promising. He’s a Red Chip player easily based on QB drafting standards. In this class, Simpson is a Blue Chip player overall, and should be gone before 10 picks.
