Spencer Fano Scouting Report

Spencer Fano put up rare tape for the Utes. He is a technically sound as you can expect an OT to be emerging form the NCAA. Excellent footwork on vertical sets and a low base, lightning quick punch, and a few tiers of hand counters in the run game. He blocked zone at an A+ level for Utah, but has the nose to play in move/gap scheme. If there is a knock it’s he’s overconfident of his physical skills against the elite pass rushers. At RT he looks like the type a qualified OC could weaponize on the move. Fano is a rare athlete for the position, with second level speed as a blocker and core strength that jumps off the screen. And his athletics are doubly impressive when you add that he’s yet to truly ‘fill out’ his frame. If he’s not the first OT off the board, he’s the second, but he is a blue chip (top 10) value for what he projects to be in two seasons.
