De’Zhaun Stribling Scouting Report

Stribling is a very well built wide receiver. He tracks and high points the ball very well. But his first downside is a limited release package for a prospective X, and one that hasn’t been fully tested in the confines of Ole Miss’s offense. Stribling’s route running reel shows good instincts, with some of the route drift and a tendency to tack the grass you see in offenses like what’s featured at Ole Miss. Stribling is not the top tier deep ball tracker his athletics suggest, but there is upside. Where he shines is on crossing and dig type routes where he’s exceptionally aware of his quarterback and his leverage — see his game against UGA. Where he has played, most zone reps are long looping crossers, and Stribling acquits himself well especially, finding a level and transition into some monster plays. But there are less situations where he needs to sit in zone than you’d see in a polished prospect. And when he does encounter true man coverage, he is physical and can separate a number of ways at the top of the route, including some subtle influence like head fakes. His blocking technique is simply among the best at WR in the class, with a edge to his approach and consistently good tracking as well as hand placement.
