David Bailey Scouting Report

David Bailey is a dervish on the edge, with as fun a reel of tape as you’ll see. He was good enough to shine uniquely in a star-studded Red Raider defense, and should be good enough for NFL GMs to call early.

Tape Scouting Report

He converts speed to power with the best in the class, wins at all angles, and owns a growing array of rush techniques. His arsenal is highlighted by an impressive spin, but has developed great swim tape as well, and regardless he has lightning fast hands when he uses them. His rush defense is two tapes. He is an excellent penetrator, who takes excellent angles, but is aggressive at times to a fault, and needs better hand technique to be a true edge setter in the NFL.

Athletic Scouting Report

Baily couples that skill set with true blue chip athleticism. He is an elite linear athlete and despite an upright frame, he can bend the edge. Finally, he projects power through his frame, from the base like an All-Pro NFL end. Among the very few negatives you might spy on film, is that his body is somewhat rigid compared to the archetypal end, so you might think, he can’t bend. But Bailey best projects as real angle rusher you move from A to B terrifying your opponents, and on that bend is less important than trigger, pacing, and hand usage.

Draft Stock Report

With an eye opening 2025 season, Bailey is on the radar as a a fringe Blue Chip edge prospect and should expect his name to be called no lower than 15. The NFL loves, nay, needs more pass rushers and they’ve taken bigger risks acquiring them than sending a heavy producer like Bailey home with a top-10 rookie deal.
