Caleb Banks came on late and rescued his final year at Florida. Now he is a DL prospect more in line with what you’d expect from his considerable physical abilities. Banks is as much about who he could be, a sky high ceiling prospect who is still learning to harness his massive frame.

Tape Scouting Report

He wins primarily through a combination of heavy hands and an effective “stack-and-shed” ability. He plays his length to his advantage well, on tape blockers rarely get inside his 35-inch arms. Especially at the Senior Bowl, we see a sophisticated pass rush kit for a man his size, quick swim move, push-pull, and his got is is a leonine club-rip. In early 2025 we still saw his pad-level show up as an issue; at 6’6″, he naturally plays too upright, which can cause him to lose the leverage battle and get “washed out” by double teams. His hand placement and footwork are still developing, and he currently lacks a consistent counter-move when his initial bull rush or finesse move is stalled.

Athletic Scouting Report

Banks athletic profile is as blue as blue chip can be. At over 325lb with 100th-percentile wingspan you also get see first-step explosion through the gap to penetrate the backfield before guards can set their anchors. Banks is a cross sport athlete, playing basketball in high school and he has three dimensional spatial skills to show for it, including loose hips and lateral mobility well beyond typical 78″ tall profiles we see on the defensive front. Especially when he gets it the backfield cleanly, he’s able to whip that frame pr redirect toward the action. And in the box, these abilities translate into a DT with real sideline to sideline pursuit potential. While a foot injury limited his 2025 season, his combine testing confirmed his elite status, posting a 32-inch vertical and a sub-1.80-second 10-yard split. Unfortunately, the combine also confirmed questions about long term durability — he broke his foot in the drills section.

Draft Stock Report

We don’t want to overthink Caleb Banks’ medicals. This kid is built like a tractor but can ride like a pickup truck, and he showed this through SEC competition, up until his truncated 2025 season. The NFL loves a front line chess piece capable of playing anywhere from a 0-tech nose to a 5-tech defensive end. So even with his see-saw record and pocked 2025 medical record, Banks is no less than a Red Chip 🔴 player, and one who should be gone before 45 selections in the 2026 NFL draft.
